Bread of Heaven, Jesus It's You

This is a hymn about Jesus in the Eucharist. It is a translation of an Italian hymn, Pane del Cielo.

The author of this English translation, and composer of the original tune are unknown:  it was sung by Italian-based international performing arts group Gen Rosso, who were inspired by the founder of the Focolare movement.

No published versions or sheet music have been located.   The is one video on YouTube, which was uploaded in 2021.   However the song is older than that:  it was widely used by members of the Focolare Movement in New Zealand in the 1980s / 1990s.

The unnamed tune has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of C, the first few notes of the melody are E_ FG  G_ AB c C_ BAG_

Lyrics

Chorus:
Bread of heaven Jesus it's you.
Show us the way, make us all like you.

1. No the earth is no longer cold as it was
You have remained with us.
Feeding us with yourself
And to inflame our bread of life with your love
All of humanity.

2. Yes, heaven is here, here on earth.
You have remained with us.
Yet you take us with you
Into your home
Where together we will live
For all eternity.

3. No! death can no longer make us afraid.
You have remained with us.
And who lives in you
Lives forever!
You're God in us, You're God for us,
God among us all.
