Lord I Need You (Lord I come, I confess)

This is a contemporary hymn expressing personal need for and devotion to God.   It was inspired by the classic hymn, Every Hour I Need Thee.

The words and music were written by Daniel Carson , Kristian Stanfill , Christy Nockels, Matt Maher and Jesse Reeves - although the song often attributed to Maher because he featured in the original music video.  It was written for college students at the Passion  Conference in 2011 (ref) - and has since become popular among all age-groups.

It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Carson, Stanfill, Nockels, Maher and Reeves. This has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of Bb, the first few notes of the melody are B, DD zz EDD_ B,DD z CC BB with accompanying chords Eb / Bb / Eb / Bb / Eb / Gm7 / Eb.

Lyrics

The lyrics are copyright so cannot be reproduced here. But they are currently available on this website. A rough outline is:
1.  Lord I come, I confess ....

Chorus:
Lord, I need You, oh I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

2 Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more ...

3 So teach my song to rise to You ....

See more ...

KEEP IN CASE ORIGINAL IS REMOVED, BUT DO NOT DISPLAY
Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here, I find my rest
Without You, I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart

Chorus:
Lord, I need You, oh I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

2 Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more,
Where grace is found is where You are;
And where You are, Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me.

3 So teach my song to rise to You,
When temptation comes my way;
And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay.
