This is a simple children's hymn for Advent, which can be used in conjunction with lighting an Advent wreath.
It was written by American Methodist organist and composer, Natalie Allyn Sleeth, née Wakeley (1930 –1992), and first published by Hinshaw Music in 1976.
It is set to an unnamed tune, also by Sleeth. This has a cut-common time signature. In the key of G, the first few notes of the melody are D D FE D A_ and this pattern is repeated a lot in the tune.
