It was written in northwest Montana (ref) by (presumably American worship leader and composer) David Graham (b 1948), and first published in 1980 by C. A. Music, a division of C. A. Records. It has since been covered by a great many artists, and is used in many churches.
It is set to an unnamed tune by Graham. This has a 3/4 time signature. In the key of D, the first few notes are F A A B D_
