It was composed by Ken Belasco from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, who was a church musician there in the 1960s - 80s. Later in life he was living in Geneva, Switzerland.
The song uses the text of Luke 1: 46-55 from The Grail translation, and so the lyrics are still copyright.
It is published as a setting for use during Night Prayer in McCrimmon Publication's Celebration Hymnal for Everyone - and this is the only located source of sheet music for it.
The unnamed tune has a 4/4 time signature. In the key of C, the first few notes are G G ec G#G A.
No downloadable versions have been found, of either performances or the sheet music. If you know where to find one, please leave a message in the Comments box near the bottom of the page.

My soul glorifies the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.
He looks on his servant in her nothingness
Henceforth all ages will call me blessed.
1 The almighty works marvels for me ...
2 He puts forth his arm in strength ...
3 He fills the starving with good things ...
4 He protects Israel, his servant ...
5 Give glory to the father amighty ...
I know a Ken Beleasco from Trinidad who lives in Geneva, Switzerland, he sings regularly at church, has a beautiful voice.
ReplyDeleteThe best voice ever. Royalty and Loyalty in the family. Thanks from your cousins in Trinidad 🇹🇹 and Tobago. Love always.
ReplyDeleteI have known Ken from Trinidad and Tobago, who now lives in Geneva, actually he lead the choir at my wedding Nuptial Mass at the Mt Lambert RC Church in 1975. His voice remains as sweet as ever, and I thank God for this gift, keep on singing for the Lord my brother. Continued good health. To God be the glory.
ReplyDeleteCould someone who knows Ken ask him if he would be willing to make a recording of this hymn, and load it to YouTuble? Or if he would be willing to share a copy of the sheet music for it?
ReplyDeleteHe can contact me by emailing editor@GodSongs.net
